This catchall directory includes sounds from various ethnic and non-Western cultures, mostly drawn from Eastern Europe and the near East. Many additional "ethnic" and non-Western samples are included within several of the other sflib directories (e.g. gamelan and chinaperc). Becasuse we have accumulated so many chordophone (stringed instrument) samples from non-Western cultures, these have been consolidated within a separate worldstring directory.

33 darabuka soundfiles : The darabuka is a conga-like membranophone
played with fingertips,
that is common in Morocco and many other Arab countries. It
is sometimes also called a dumbek.
The darabuka samples include both isolated multisampled hits in "normal"
and "hollow" timbres, short glissandi and short riffs.
